Monday 22nd Oct was Labor day, (correct spelling!) a Bank Holiday across the whole of NZ. So we took a picnic and drove North out of Taradale and headed down Highway 2 !! Which you would think Highway, 3 lanes, fast traffic! Nope just like a A road in the UK! Anyway heading north we arrived at Waipatiki population 113! As you can see from the pics the beach is lovely..! There are rock pools to explore and at the far side there is a river which meets the sea! There is also coastal walkway around the cliffs which we started but then decided to turn back and do the whole walk another day.
